DEPRESSION
What is it
Depression is a common and serious mental health condition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities. It can affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, making even simple tasks seem daunting. Depression can manifest as physical symptoms such as fatigue, changes in appetite, sleep disturbances, and physical pain, as well as emotional symptoms like feelings of worthlessness, excessive guilt, and difficulty concentrating.

While everyone experiences sadness or low moods at times, depression is more intense and long-lasting, often interfering with daily life and functioning. It can affect one's ability to concentrate, make decisions, and engage in once-enjoyable activities. When these symptoms persist and significantly impact one's life, it may be diagnosed as a depressive disorder, such as major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), or seasonal affective disorder.
